gaslighting

What Happens to You Over Time When You are Gaslighted

Gaslighting is a very abusive practice that makes someone distrustful and makes them believe that they are mentally ill.

It’s not easy to get rid of the effects of gaslighting; here are a few of the impact.

What Happens to You Over Time When You are Gaslighted

  • You find you are apologizing often and you are confused about this.
  • You begin to question your response to your partner even though deep inside you know that your bad reaction is warranted.
  • You can’t seem to identify what is wrong, but you know something is wrong.
  • You have lost some or all of your self-esteem, you are anxious, on eggshells but you can’t get the clarity of thought to make THE decision.
  • You are blaming yourself thinking you need to do more, be more but everything you do seems wrong.
  • You start believing you ARE too sensitive.
  • You have lost YOU. Who are you? You don’t recognize you anymore .
  • You make excuses for your partner’s behavior, so others won’t worry about you.
  • You are feeling guilty in a variety of ways.
  • You know longer care about the gaslighter and you are now treating them with the same disdain and disrespect they are unloading on you and you don’t like the thoughts and behaviors you are now burdened with, and each day that you can’t get out, you dislike yourself more.
  • You are becoming more and more disgusted and even repulsed with the hope you keep holding on to.
  • You are completely debilitated and exhausted.
